Section 2

Architecture Constraints

This section represents restrictions and explains – where necessary – their motivations.

Organizational Constraints

Constraint Description Motivation
EnBW engineering standards The solution must comply with the EnBW engineering standards. They are binding for architecture, development, quality assurance, and operations, and take precedence over team-local conventions. Company-wide standards keep quality, security, and operability comparable across EnBW products and reduce the effort when developers move between teams.

Technical Constraints

Constraint Description Motivation
Azure Cloud The application and all of its infrastructure must run in the Azure Cloud. On-premises hosting and other cloud providers are out of scope. Azure is the strategic cloud platform at EnBW. Existing tenants, network integration, identity, monitoring, and support processes are available and must not be duplicated elsewhere.

The concrete Azure services, the hosting approach, and the technology selection derived from these constraints are described in the Solution Strategy and the Deployment View.
